‘LUKE HART SHAPES’

Here at Colab we are super proud of our range of surfboards, there is literally one for every shape, ability, and wave. There are however, some occasions when a surfer wants something very specific, that is not currently available, or has not even been shaped yet. It is in these situations that Luke Hart, head shaper at Colab, steps up to the plate and shapes his magic.

Here on the ‘Luke Hart Shapes’ page, you can choose to have the full personal, shaping experience! An experience that is normally saved for our Team riders, and up until now has not been possible to replicate fully for the wider public.

Of course Luke will always put his time and expertise into every board we make, but under the ‘Luke Hart Shapes’ logo you will literally (within reason) get his undevided attention so that between the two of you, you can create the board of your dreams.

In terms of what that might entail, here are just a few examples of what ‘Luke Hart Shapes’ could work with you on…

• An exact, or modified replica of an old favourite surfboard, that is no longer available; This will involve as many consultations as needed, on either phone or face to face, and ideally you leaving the board with Luke. If necesary Luke will conduct additional research to make sure we are capturing exactly what you want.
• An exact, or modified replica of a surfboard model not readily available in the UK; This will involve as many consultations as needed, on either phone or face to face. From here we will look to either get hands on with the board in question, and/or Luke will conduct extensive research on the board in questions so that we are capturing exactly what you want.
• A fully customised surfboard that is adapted to your surfing style, and how you want to progress; Using the same process that Luke employs with his team surfers, this will involve as many consultations as needed, on either phone or face to face, during which Luke will get key information about you and your surfing. This will also include reviewing footage of you surfing, if available, in order to get as clear an idea of where you are at and where you want to get to. Having practiced this process for literally thousands of hours with professional surfers over the last two decades there is nobody better qualified in the UK to analyse your surfing and surfboard needs than Luke Hart.
• You have an idea for a new surfboard that might be a mash up of a few surfboards, and/or something completely new; This will involve as many consultations as needed, on either phone or face to face, during which you and Luke will create a clear brief for your surfboard. From here a file of the new board will be created, whcih once you are happy with and signed off on, will be turned into your dream board. No shape, construction type, or aesthetic are off limits. If it’s possible, Luke Hart and his team will work out how to do it.

In terms of pricing, a base board construction, with all the ‘Luke Hart Shapes’ input, will start at £699. Before the board is made you will be given a proper quotation including the costs associated with different constructions and finishes. In a nutshell a ‘Luke Hart Shapes’ board, with all the additional service and work, will cost you around £40 more than a standard Fourth surfboard of similar size, construction, and finish.

Once you have finalised the design, another payment of £250 will be required to initiate the make. The rest of the balance will be paid once the board is finished and you are happy with it.**
